Job Description
This position is responsible for protecting patentable advances made within the company
Responsibilities:
- Draft and prosecute patent applications and represent the company before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Police an assigned portion of the patent portfolio of the division.
- Stay abreast of competitive patent activities.
- Review competitors machines for possible infringement of company patents.
- Assist in design around efforts with engineering teams to avoid infringing competitor patents.
- Provide presentations to Engineering as it relates to Patent updates/changes etc.
- Knowledge of Intellectual Property contracts
- Review products for patentable ideas.
- Review and evaluate invention disclosures.
- Review and evaluate competitor patents.
- Monitor company patents to prevent infringement.
- Monitor outside counsel when required.
Requirements - B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a minimum of 4 years professional experience in Mechanical and or Electrical Engineering fields
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from accredited law school.
- Must be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Must have at least 7 year of professional Patent Legal experience
- Excellent communication and computer skills
- Ability to work under moderate supervision
